Oscars of Indian science

Nanopolitan tells us about the Oscars of Indian science. Sadly, Google didn’t throw up much on the news sites. So much for popularity of science in India, eh?

Thanks, Patrix, for the link. Though I didn’t mention it, the prestige and ‘bhav’ levels of other awards are nothing (to the scientists) compared to that of the Bhatnagars. Yet, the media go gaga over the ‘Padma’ awards and the ‘Science Congress’ awards, but completely skip covering the Bhatnagars.

Bottomline: for the media, if a minister doesn’t announce it, it is not worth covering it. So, they did cover the awards ceremony because the prime minister was there!
