BusinessWorld carries IIPM story

Businessworld has joined [registration required; hint: use Bugmenot] the band of mainstream media that has picked up on the IIPM story. I loved this piece as they actually verify IIPM’s claims the way Rashmi’s magazine did. End result – they find the same result. Should Businessworld now expect a legal notice? Other publications that have carried the story are:

Hindustan Times [Google Cache link]
Mumbai Mirror [pdf link]
Daily Pioneer (Delhi)
Indian Express
NDTV
DNA India
Business Standard
News Today (Chennai)
CNet
MSNBC (Glenn Reynolds). Also here
New York Times (via CNet)
Outlook India
Al-Jazeerah (story: Bloggin in Asia: Ain’t Safe no more)
Bangkok Post

The last nail on the IIPM coffin.
Unless IIPM does something drastic like apologising sincerely, they can say their last prayers.

Next Bully will think twice before acting smug.

oooopss I almost feel rooting for IIPM who is now the underdog!

The Indian blogging community (or blogosphere, as it likes to call itself) is essentially a bitchy, self-indulgent and an almost incestuous network comprising journalists, wannabe-writers and a massive army of geeks who give vent to their creative ambitions on the internet. Given that the average blogger-age is 25 years, it’s clear bloggers love to indulge in hearty name-calling and taking college-style potshots at others. This is probably why some of them get into trouble.

Is it just me, or does everyone who blogs find this description offensive too?

aNTi: I noticed that too, surprising reaction has been so muted. It’s especially amusing because at least two of those adjectives (self-indulgent and bitchy) can easily be applied on Outlook itself (I used to be a regular reader).

I’m putting the snarkiness down to professional condescension from a journalist who can’t get used to the fact that his readers now have a voice, and a highly effective medium for that voice at that.

Very happy to see this being taken up by mainstream media.

Congratulations on a strategic victory.

Yet another publication for your list: webpronews.com. Though they do misspell Gaurav’s name…
