DesiPundit Slogan Contest

Update: Folks, we are looking for desi-centric slogans not DesiPundit-centric slogans !!

We are looking for DesiPundit slogans. Mind you, it is not restricted to the idea of desi blogs, the slogans should reflect the spirit of being Desi (whatever that means to you and all of us). They can be one line, two short lines, or three very short lines…heck, if one word does the trick, great! If you are better with images than words, do it graphically. Go wild! Let your creative juices flow. Send us your entries at desipundit [at] gmail [dot] com (or in the comments) along with your mailing address

For your trouble, we’re handing out free DesiPundit magnet buttons for the first 25 ‘creative’ submissions and $10 Amazon.com gift coupons for the top three entries. The contest ends on Sunday, November 27, 2005 at 11:59pm CST. The ‘creative’ submissions will be added to this post as they come in so don’t think of plagiarizing because DesiPundit readers are pretty smart even if we are not.

Your entries become property of the DesiPundit Creative Commons license; trademark fanatics, don’t bother. Feel free to advertise this contest on your blogs (extra brownie points if you do). More details as questions arise.

Morons, you’re supposed to mail it to the address given above. not use this space for your own free advertising. Nice slogan, though, Thennavan. :-)

Avinash thanks for the approval :-) although I guess the first part doesn’t apply to me. You see I am not in need of this thing called publicity at my level :-)

My intention was not to publicize either, in case comments are not the way to submit a slogan perhaps an admin can delete them.

Hello,

Here are my 3 entries for the slogans….

1. SIDE Please: We’re DESIs!!

2. Devil-may-care (Refers to our celebratory
and festive spirit which we
sometimes take to extremes
for ex. “blaring songs
during
festivals, w/o thinking
about how this might affect
others!)
Enterprising
Smart
Informal (Refers to our warm-friendly
nature, slant remark about our
“we-
take-everyone-for-granted”
attitude)

3. DESI: Hamse badhkar kaun!!

I especially liked Hetal’s ‘Mad in India’. It is not blog specific and is a nice play of words.

Banners and buttons could be made for use on Desi blogs in which the ‘Mad in India’ part stands out against a contrasting background but there is an ‘e’ that is of a similar (but not identical) shade as the background immediately after the ‘Mad’.

HINDI:

Deshpremiyon ka adda, Desipundit

or

Choupal, Deshpremiyon ka – Desipundit

(Choupal, which means a village meeting place in Hindi, is not known well all over India, while I think ‘adda’ is better known.)

Deshpremi Manzil, Desipundit

ENGLISH:

Desipundit, where Indians hangout online

Desipundit, Rendevouz of Indians everywhere

AND FINALLY, A TASTE OF URDU:

Adda-e-Hindustani, Desipundit

Desipundit, the Indian blogzine

Desipundit, online journal of Indian blogs

I understood that you wanted a catch-line for desipundit. But your latest update shows that you wanted desi-centric slogans, not desipundit centric ones. Well, it’s hard to rewire my thinking.

But a first time visitor to desipundit doesn’t know at a glance what this site is about. I think adding a catch line helps.

We become Desi only when we stop our mindless following and praising everything and everyone “foren”.
