Liberterminator

Shivam Vij, of Mall Road suddenly goes on a rampage. He comes up with a barrage of posts, directly attacking or poking fun at the libertarian cartel.

Though I’m sure it can be argued without any logical fallacies that undertrials continue to suffer because there hasn’t been enough economic liberalisation in India, you may want to read Abhishek Singhvi’s article in the Hindustan Times

When a woman working in a call centre in Bangalore was recently raped and murdered by a call centre cab driver, what surprised me the most was the lack of any comment that blamed it on the slow speed of economic liberalisation in India.

Furthermore, the aforementioned blogger has been spotted commenting on peoples’ blogs yesterday, ascribing the all the worlds’ problems to lack of economic liberalization in India:

#1 That even such high-quality prolific bloggers like you get such nasty comments and trolls is only because there hasn’t been enough economic liberalisation in India.

#2 I think the reason why we continue to see such bad writing in India 14 years after we gave up socialism is that we haven’t had enough economic liberalisation in India.

Amusing.

Shivam’s comments are hilariously on-target!

But calm down Vulturo, I’d hardly call Shivam’s posts a rampage. Contrast it with, to pull an example out of the air, the putting down of Mr.Dcubed that is so prevalent on the cartel blogs. Or the pompous posts on The Examined Life (am I the only one who finds the title ironic?).

I am neither with the libertarians or their critics. It’s like listening to politicians. They hear nothing but themselves.

That’s very insightful!

ANyway, I was just having some fun. I found in one recent libertarian post (I’m not going to quote) how something not really related to economic reforms was also linked to economic reforms. I am a bit fatigued with the idea of free markets as nirvana, and the constant use of logical fallacies, and so i was just letting out some honest steam! Not that I have majore disagreement, just ideological fatigue you know!

Well, Shivam, it was very funny.

On a different issue, just surprised to see that the two comments posted before mine have been deleted. Curious, considering they weren’t rude or anything, they just suggested that the tone of the post was a bit biased. Oh, well…

Sibyl, I think that you are the only one who finds the title ironic.

No there were two of us before Anirudh and me. Comments deleted without any explanation!

Ironic or not, your blog is definitely one of the most pompous on the blogosphere, Ravi.

Oh in that case, Sibyl, you are not the only one who finds the title ironic.

Why have Mridula’s and my comments been deleted? They weren’t abusive.

The comments were deleted as they were found to be in a bad taste, and against the spirit of DesiPundit. Thank you.

Please define bad taste? Differing with your opinion is bad taste? Give me a break.

Vulturo:

Try to forget my political/economic views before reading this. I say this as a reader and fan of Desipundit and not as someone opposed to or in favour of any ideology. I think a prudent thing to do is to have a comment policy in the sidebar. Absent such instructions as to what is permissible and what isn’t I think a person whose comment is deleted has every right to be miffed and protest. And there is also a chance of this protest itself being deleted as a troll. I remember a few days back you had deleted comments on post linking to Gaurav’s post on Microsoft (about which incidentally I too found your adjective brilliant as apt). The comments were in my opinion made in jest and were not even disparaging. If even that is considered offensive, it might seriously deter people from commenting as after a comment is deleted the person’s name survives and ‘troll’ stamped in the comment’s place which can be embarassing. I think a simple disclaimer about Desipundit reviewers’ bias being allowed to be reflected through the adjectives used and another detailed disclaimer about the sort of comments permissible might be helpful for everyone concerned and also prevent you from the hassle of explaining your decisions everytime.

Enough has been said on this issue and it has already spilled over elsewhere and has diverted from the core issue. I am closing comments to avoid future possible personal attacks. Sorry, folks.
