Indians are a stingy lot but certainly not so when it comes down to donating to places of worship. Latest on the bandwagon; Amitabh who thanks the Tirupati temple for his speedy recovery.
A Little Wit. A Little Wisdom. Lots of India.

Oh god! you people are bringing everything to the road. I live at a place close to tirupati and i can clearly tell you that donating money to TTD (balaji temple’s commitee) means that money will be properly put to use. You have written that we can feed 550 people for an year with the money looking from the statistics point of view you are absolutely correct. But how would you organise this program? and what about the rest of days?. Donating money to NGO’s who are involved in this charity is the only way isn’t it? and this is what amitabh did precisely.
The programs taken by TTD (Tirumala tirupati devasthanams) deserve great attention. Consider visiting this url http://tirumala.org
1) Do you know about the Annadana program?
2) Do you know how many schools are funded by TTD?
3) Do you know how many patients are treated for free at SVIMS?
4) Do you know how much TTD spends to preserve ancient indian arts & sculpture?
5) Mass afforestration drive in Tiruamala hills to protect the environment is undertaken by TTD.
6) TTD is the major sponsor for almost all large scale events in any temples!
7) Government of Andhrapradesh gets around 500 crores a year from Balaji temple.
