I do not quitely agree with Alok. Its about pseudo secularism. When muslims rape and kill hindu women, nobody turns up. But whenever its opposite and in the wake of mere reaction to an incidence, media shouts with loudspeakers. Ironically, majority of persons involved in media or the ones writing blogs here are hindus. I fail to understand why they support secularism. In true sense it does not exist, and will never exist. World still runs on darwin’s theories of ’struggle for existence’ and ’survival of the fittest’.
So, till, mankind is there on earth, one religion or sect is bound to crush other. If we want to survive, we must speak for our people & not for ‘them’.

I wish it would have had the same “objectivity�? and pointed out that in Gujurat its a time to live and let live, and not call it a “pogrom”.

Just to clarify, personally, I don’t completely agree with all of Sandeep’s views, but in this case I can definitely sense pseudo-secularism at play, as far as the media reactions to the blasts are concerned. It is way too obvious (this is *my view* and has nothing to with what other Desipundits think)

Alok is right.

Godhra incident was a conspiracy of fascist Hindus who commited suicide by lighting the train compartment from inside in order to malign Muslims.
The presence of 2000+ mob was coincidental, it was there just to watch the train, a very popular Indian past time.

English media acted admirably by bringing this truth to the light. Otherwise we might have been thinking that the “incident” might have been an act of extremist Muslims, which is obviously absurd because there is nothing like extremist muslims. All the muslims by definitions are meek lambs being butchered by Hindu Nazis.

I thought the media was behaving very responsibly. What do you guys want? another Gujarat? Don’t forget that one of the factors which worsened the situation in gujarat was the local vernacular media, unlike their more responsible English counterparts, planted all kinds of unconfirmed stories and painted the whole thing with communal paint.

this is a law-and-order and a criminal problem as was the case with those hindu fundies burning missionaries or raping and slitting muslim throats. there is no point in bringing religion into all this.

thank god blogs don’t account much in shaping public opininion (in India). our main newspapers are doing their job very well in dealing with the situation. and I think the post you linked is totally misguided, irresponsible and even plain stupid.

Is this the time to be exhorting the media to go to town about the fact that Muslims killed Hindus? Instead of saying that for once they are acting with some responsibility and are obviously downplaying the fact that some Muslim fundamentalist organisation stormed a temple, this blog (with what I cannot but feel tacit Desipundit approval) is calling the media names, of them the ridiculous pseudo-secularist!

Is it that some of you want the media to whip Hindus into some self-righteous rioting and killing Muslims? For the grim truth is it may just come to that, as I’m sure we are all aware.
