First, you can be a working mother and climb the corporate ladder while raising kids (Indra has two, who are I believe in their early/mid teens). Second, you can get ahead in the American corporate environment without sacrificing who you are culturally.

We actually highlighted Indra Nooyi in our forthcoming book, Your Leadership Legacy, which will be published next month by Harvard Business School Press. Indra Nooyi is, in legacy terms, a classic “Ambassador”, with an ability to handle a variety of complex situations with grace. Ambassadors can break ground without breaking glass, and she is a talented executive. Pepsi is lucky to have her!
