JK of Varnam points towards a new report which seems to suggest that Jawaharlal Nehru didn’t want to have an army for India, at all:
‘We don’t need a defence plan. Our policy is ahimsa (non-violence). We foresee no military threats. Scrap the army! The police are good enough to meet our security needs’

actually, the quote by nehru when he was told about the tribal invasion into kashmir was ‘throw the rascals out’. nehru had no clue as to the military vulnerability of the country, which he continued to negled throughout the fifties. the ordinance factories were producing children’s toys at the time of the 1962 chinese invasion.
