The post-blog-post effect
What appeals to me specifically about Huffpost and Guardian Comment, is that they’ve retained the advantages of ‘old media’ but gone ahead and reinstituted themselves as an index. A columnist still researches and presents an issue in the classic sense. But instead of achieving closure, it performs as a fulcrum. ie. still Columnist, just no Last Word.
Using the example of Comments is Free and Huffington Post, Socket32 writes on the changing nature of news delivery [hat tip: Tabula Rasa]. It is definitely changing yet remaining familiarly similar to the traditional model.
