Surekha and Priyanka were stripped, paraded naked, beaten black and blue with bicycle chains, axes and bullock cart pokers. They were publicly gang raped until they died. Some raped them even after that, and finally, sticks and rods were shoved into their genitals. In the meantime, Sudhir managed to contact the police from his mobile phone, but his phone had been smashed. Its pieces are now circumstantial evidence. Roshan and Sudhir were beaten up, their genitals mutilated, faces disfigured and their bodies tossed in the air, before they lay dead on the ground. Hiding behind a hut, Bhaiyyalal helplessly watched his family’s gruesome end. There was no one to call for help. Kherlanji had only two Mahar families; the rest were either perpetrators or spectators. An hour later, a village meeting was called and a diktat issued: no one was to say a word about the massacre.
Shivam has a detailed report on the Kherlanji massacre.

Seriously, if you don’t find something new Confused, take a walk. Aren’t you a graduate student or something? If you are, try studying or working or whatever else. Or, you may even read my blog. Stop linking to the same damn thing over and over and over and over again.

Nilu,
I do read your blog sometimes. Thanks for your advise. How about skipping the posts I link to?

For once I agree with Nilu. I would have liked it if you hadn’t linked to my post. Why give me hits and attention and help me further my sinister political agenda in which I don’t respect dalits or the dignity of the dead, and am as bad as the mob that lynched the Bhotmanges?

Shivam,
This story needs to be told and you have done a good job detailing it. Thats why I have linked to it. Nothing more to it.

And Shivam, I am not sure if you take any advice at all. But if you do, please stop trying to be sarcastic. Please.

Disgusting !!!
“their genitals mutilated” – Ugh!!!! I think DP should remove that immediately as it offends my sentiments. I’ve a vivid imagination and what I imagine takes away the dignity of the dead, etc etc. If you cant remove it at least replace with “their ******* mutilated” .
I’ll defenitely say “good gesture” if it’s done.
Skip posts Confused links to ? I use a Feed Reader and dammit, I just have not been able to hack the corefiles to exclusively alienate his posts. Any suggestions from those who own the desi blogsphere ?
On second thoughts, I think Shivam should reload that pic.

I think I owe Confused an apology….
His earlier post about this pointed to Gaurav’s Blog primarily. He just used Shivam’s as a reference.
Now, he has pointed to Shivam’s post to enlighten the masses. Brilliant !!

Shivam,
If you have an objection to being linked by DP, kindly send a mail to Saket. If you have an objection to being linked by me, please send me a mail.
Otherwise, please continue to play the victim. I am sure it advances your cause.
Thanks!
Don,
Thanks. Your snide remarks are very helpful. No, you don’t owe me an apology. Feel free to ramble on, if you say something useful, I would surely reply.
Btw, this my third post on the massacre. There is one before the photograph one too. Here. Oh, I don’t see you commenting on that. Perhaps, your feedreader missed it.
And yes, even on feedreader, you can see the post and skip it if I offend your senses so much. Otherwise, you can petition the owners of this blog asking them to remove me as a contributor. Can’t think of anything else.
No one owns the blogsphere, but please understand one thing very clearly: I reserve the right to make remarks on any post I link on DP. If you have any objection to it, send a mail to Saket. Telling me won’t help, because I won’t change. I will keep doing exactly what I think is right, whether you like it or not. And of course you can keep protesting till cows come home.
And well, my linking to a post by Sabnis obstructed the cause of justice, violated rights and FSM knows what else. Your remarks help the cause of justice. Sure!

Confused>somehow I got the impression from a post to you’d linked to earlier that you appreciate and approve snide comments….but your response indicates that I did say something useful. Else, you’d have taken your own advice and “skipped’ my comments.
I did see your 1st post. And GB’s too from the link. I didn’t comment b’cos I felt that it didn’t need one. But you second was an attempt to ideolise Gaurav and that offended my senses and needed a comment. Savvy ?
“I will keep doing exactly what I think is right, whether you like it or not.” – Wow ! When Shivam does the same thing, its “disgusting” and you approve the snide remarks .
Which gets me back to square A. If GS or you had just skipped reading (and reacting personally to) what was undeniably Shivam’s right to post , this whole sensationalism could have been avoided.
Send mails to Saket/DP? What for? Do you think I’m IIPM to send out stupid threatening mails ?
Your last sentence is yours and not mine and reflects a childlish attitude to a discussion. Period !

I’m not playing the victim but merely pointing out that even if your contention that the posting of that photo by me was unethical / violated the dignity of the dead, is granted, your over-reaction comparing me with the lynch mob and saying that I have no respect for dalits was in bad taste. It was the sort of below-the-belt stuff that I thought you would realise, in retrospect, as being clearly unwarranted and apologise.
I am not saying that I object being linked, ’cause you know I’m certified to be hits hungry. I just said that I would have liked if you had not linked to this post of mine.

Don,
I see. You don’t seem to get it. So let me explain for like 50th time. I linked to both Shivam and Gaurav. As I said, adding a line is my perrogative and all hell broke loose. Could you explain to me how did I violate any of Shivam’s right? Please restrict your argument to that. I believe everyone can make his own value judgment, can we give adults that choice or we can’t? Unlike some others, I link to things which I find worth commenting upon, even if I don’t personally approve of them.
And of course, Shivam could have ignored my comment and not taken down the photograph just like I will ignore your protests and keep linking the way I always have. You can say ”disgusting” and it won’t have any effect on me, unless you make your case. Expression of my feeling should not automatically result in someone acting on them. We don’t live in a police state, do we? And if I said good gesture, it was entirely consistent with my earlier statement. I still think it was a good gesture and I appreciate Shivam for that. You seem to be ”confused” about the role of a DP contributor, I will not give up my individuality just because I write on DP. That’s not how DP functions.
Buddy, I said petition, when did I use the word threat? Please point it to me. I said it because this blog is not owned by me, I wont have ever given you the same advise if you were commenting on my blog.
How did you get the impression that I don’t approve of snide remarks? I said they are very helpful and advance the cause of justice.
Please go on, I fully approve of your comments. Just that, I think I have said all that needed to be said, so excuse me if I don’t reply. If you raise a substantial issue, I surely will.
cheers
Shivam,
To be dealt elsewhere.
