Ethics And HR

I don’t seem to see the point he is making: I was a recruiter in the Technology domain for seven years, and it was my job to hire software professionals in droves for a wide variety of clients. Hiring people obviously meant making people quit their existing companies to join companies which were clients of mine. I don’t think there was anything “unethical about it: I wasn’t physically forcing people to join my clients. People were doing it of their own free will. Because they wanted better money, because they wanted better responsibilities, because they wanted to be associated with better brands. The reason could be anything. Thats how the world goes round. Your employees are not your slaves. Neither are they married to your company: Its a free country. If they don’t wanna work for you, its their choice.

Fellow Pundit Vulturo tells us why he has no sympathy with Nirav Mehta-linked here. Great post!

Update- This seems to have sparked quite a debate. Rashmi Bansal responds to Vulturo’s post, according to her giving notice is in employee’s own self interest.

Leaving without notice period, to my mind, reflects lack of common courtesy. And it is a behaviour that we as a company do not encourage. If you were already employed somewhere, but willing to join me tomorrow, I would look at it in an unfavourable light.

Other companies are free to have their own policies. And you are free to behave boorishly if you wish. But ten years from now, you may regret this impulsive behaviour.

Some person called Anu RC seems to have plagiarized Rashmi’s post completely. Full Copy Paste. I didnt find any credit to YouthCurry out there.
