Pakistan diaries
MumbaiGirl has a wonderful series of posts on her visit to Pakistan.
Naturally, I had to go to the Museum. I love going to museums in cities. I went in a rickety old car-an ancient version of what we would call a Maruti 800. The driver was old and of hennaed hair and beard. He took me everywhere, charged a pittance, and asked questions such as “Do you have traffic as bad as ours? (ours is worse) and “Do people beg in India? I regularly forgot where I’d left him in crowded markets, but he’d always magically appear, just as I’d start panicking.
The Lahore Museum on The Mall has some beautiful things on display including some very beautiful old Qur’ans and Granth Sahibs. The lighting is poor and the museum was freezing but still one must go. There are Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Jain and Chinese galleries. The Gandhara Buddhas are especially worth going for.
Post 1 - A warm welcome, 2 - A visit to Cooco’s den, 3 - Some logistics, and 4 - The Lahore museum and some missing objects.

Thanks for the link. I didn’t actually visit any cows (shouldn’t it be “diaries?”:))

Haha - that’s what happens when you post so late at night. Fixed. Including the link title!

I’ve also been to Pakistan and written about it at http://sidhusaaheb.blogspot.com/2006/07/pakistan-visit-part-8.html and the preceding seven blog entries.
