Epic x two

I love those movies where beating all odds and against all obstacles an unlikely victory is grabbed by the underdog who comes in from behind. (Like Basic Instinct. Wink wink.)

So I really liked this little personal musing by Deven over at his little blog. There are two little stories both of which are heart warming and, daresay, inspiring:

My father was actually #2 in his high school. At the time entrance into IIT was not by a national exam, but rather offered to the #1 student in each high school. In his case the #1 student decided not to go. To this day I don’t know who that person was, but he literally changed the course of my father’s life and mine.

The same thing happened to me too you know. I was third in school after the half-yearly exams and then the guys who came first and second mysteriously got hit point-blank by cricket balls two days before the final exams. I was forced to pick up the heavy yolk of class topper.
