Tech-no-logic
I admit I find the whole mis-portrayal of technology in Indian cinema bizarre. And so does priya over at thotprocess. Her slightly dated post picks out some of the usual clangers:
…If you want to show the hero working on some software application, at least use Microsoft Office. Notepad just doesn’t cut it.
Now if only I could get Priya to revert on that Sivaji movie…

care to put thru some more examples ??
i remember watchin Corporate recently (being aired on sahara recently), in one of the first scenes thats got a running commentary in the background, there’s a shot of Bharat Dabholkar talking to some corp honcho or sum1 lik dat abt a security system or sumthin ( i relly dunno, just sumthin techi) and so later on he is introduces as a “jasoos” (detective)oh yea ok a corp. jasoos ( imagine bharat dhabolkar in his typical baldy-funky look). so dis beginning scene in which bharat is pointing at the screen has dis cheesy looking interface ( a la matrix-ish xcpt widout the japanese characters falling through the screen) and iThink “now, why ? why do they have to get so pseudo-techy ? y cant u just show som kind of MS-Dos or Linux window running ?” I mean the whole movie did have a sense of being discrete about the show-off factor, Bhandarkar is not a big fan of all dat but how ohh how did this get in ?
