Why Saawariya failed to click in Tamil Nadu

It is not that every other Hindi movie does well in Tamil Nadu. But usually the much hyped ones do reasonably well in Madras and in a couple of other cities like Coimbatore (at least a week or two). But Saawariya was a huge disaster while Om Shanti Om actually grossed more than Surya’s Vel in the first week of its release in Madras.

The so-called competition between the two Diwali blockbusters was in fact a one-sided affair. Why? The reason, as Kalki suggests, is much simpler than any analysis out there.
