Meetu enjoys Madhuri’s comeback film, Aaja Nachle.
Aaja Nachle is more a comment on the onslaught of commercialization. About how politicians and businessmen play together to achieve whatever fancies their whim. It is also an attempt to show how a new educated breed of politicians can use this power to make a difference if they will. And all of this is running in the background, so there is no preaching. All-in-all, pretty decent fare for a feel good movie.
Baradwaj gives it a glowing review, and seems particularly taken with Madhuri’s performance.
You sense that confidence in her now – that almost-regal imperiousness, born from the realisation that the instant she enters a scene, all eyes will turn to her – and she’s wonderful in this part where performer and person fuse into one. When she finishes dancing to Salim-Sulaiman’s rousing title track and turns to the audience – her face flushed with the exhilaration of a job well done, with the satisfaction of having achieved her goal of drawing people to the theatre, with the obvious pleasure of basking in the hooting applause – it’s hard to tell apart Diya and Dixit.

Summing it up buddies, it looks like the movie is half heartedly made. A good base story, a bad script; great acting by everyone else but Madhuri who looks loud and tired, konkana and kunal are wasted barring the last act; some very good sets, passable cinematography; Great Possibilities – Great wastage;
The only way to watch this film is to keep your expectations low and depend on Ranbeer – Vinay who have delivered great performances, they simply steal the show from Madhuri Dixit (who is inextricably cheap overall).

Sorry Anand, but your perspective is unfortunately very isolated and quite pathetic. Madhuri is brillanct in the movie, that amongst all high-calibre actors. She can really create magic, and it works for people of all ages. I never saw here in her hey days , but I loved her. Bravo for the new Indian cinema woman who has more to give than dhak dhaks…it’s like sigh and sighhhs.

Although the ever-jabbing,thick headed critics have been no good to such a lovable movie,the audience have appreciated it,even the non-fans.just for the fact that the ensemble cast is one of the best ones of recent past and when you are watching Aaja Nachle,not for one moment does it occur to you that this movie is only about Madhuri..
all the characters are pleasant and realistic.their interactions are believable(thanks to the screenplay) and the songs are well-placed.
to comment about Madhuri would be as unnecessary as unrequired.just that they dont make them like HER anymore…!!
one of the better movies of 2007,simplistic(just like the movies of a time gone by),the right amount of everything,makes for a feel-good viewing..one only wishes the critics had their heads in place while reviewing it..but then again,whoever said the critics fit their jobs??
highly recommended,just like Dancing when you feel happy
PS-the haters should be better off watching movies like Heyy Babyy or Dhammal..suits their mental capacities..panning a movie like Aaja Nachle only goes to show poor & askewed taste in movies

Hi All
I would just like to say that the movie Aaja nachle was a good piece of work. Granted, it’s not the best movie Madhuri has ever made but it was very watchable and entertaining, even had a good few funny moments. Songs were great and I especially loved Is Pal..Oh and the way in which the story of Laila & Majnu was depicted. Bravo! Excellent! It’s also great to see Madhuri, the once queen of the silver screen, back doing what she has done best, entertaining millions of people all over the world. Well done Ms Dixit
