Taare Zameen Par reviews
The verdict is in - for all of you holding out on watching Taare Zameen Par, your doubts should be cleared now. The movie is a winner, or atleast Darsheel Safary is.
Desipundit Neha loved the movie and Darsheel’s performance when she wasn’t blinking back tears.
Any other kid might have completely overdone the part. With Darsheel, you don’t even realizing he’s acting.
Meetu also had a lump in her throat at Darsheel’s portrayal of Ishaan.
There I was feeling sorry for Ishaan, feeling like yelling at someone to give him a big hug while I fought this lump in my throat that had been there for the longest time.
Baradwaj Rangan appears to have somehow avoided tears or choking, but even he was very impressed with Darsheel. So much so, he wishes Aamir were not in the movie.
But that’s perhaps why an actor with less wattage may have been the solution – for we would have then had ourselves a film that worked through its story with the help of an ensemble low-profile cast, whereas Taare Zameen Par eventually turns into a hero-centric movie. I couldn’t shake away the nagging feeling that the story wasn’t any more about Ishaan overcoming his problems so much as Nikumbh helping Ishaan overcome his problems. And that’s a big shift in tone.
