Suresh closely examines the Lagaan background score. Very detailed and interesting!
When we see Bhuvan for the first time on screen, he is aiming a deer with a stone in his hand and we are not quite sure of what kind of a person he is. Later, when we come to know that he was trying to distract the deer from getting hunted, we realize his true colour. The brassy orchestral piece (2) with heavy percussion, pumping up the energy in the action, when Bhuvan runs alongside the deer, works on two levels, one as a grand establishment of Bhuvan’s courage and his characterization and the other as the tension building and energy pumping situational music.

Interesting sound combinations both on electrical instruments and with voices. This type of music would, in my opinion, be of particular interest to film composers, who are always looking for different musical scoring effects.
