Pradeep compiles a list of the Rishi scientists of India. This is a terrific post, and serves as a short course in the history of Indian science. You might have heard of some of the scientists, like Aryabhatta. But there are lots more who are not as well known.
Acharya Bharadwaj had a hermitage in the holy city of Prayag and was an ardent apostle of Ayurveda and mechanical sciences. He authored the “Yantra Sarvasva” which includes astonishing and outstanding discoveries in aviation science, space science and flying machines. He has described three categories of flying machines: 1.) One that flies on earth from one place to another. 2.) One that travels from one planet to another. 3.) And One that travels from one universe to another.
Edit: As an alert reader (Prashant) has pointed out, this blog post is a verbatim copy of the article found here. Pradeep apparently received this as a forwarded email. So while this post is interesting, readers should note that is not Pradeep’s original work.

What a load of hogwash! Converting metals to gold? Eavesdropping another dimension? Invention of a machine to fly to another planet?
These guys sound more like science fiction writers than scientists. Maybe our rishis made Star Trek too 2000 yrs back

Looks like the above blog is a word-by-word/picture-by-picture copy of the pages here:
http://www.yoga-in-daily-life.org/download/Great_Indians.pdf
or here:

The second link above is originally dated before Nov. 12, 2007 (found using Google cache), although the actual page shows only the current date.
Please investigate to confirm if it is’nt blatant plagiarism.

Prashanth, thanks for the links. I have asked Pradeep for his source. Of course, I had anyway assumed that it was a compilation from elsewhere. But I wish more bloggers would attribute the source of their posts. Sigh.

“I had anyway assumed that it was a compilation from elsewhere. But I wish more bloggers would attribute the source of their posts.”
I have no problems with genuine compilations, where the author puts in some effort to do original research (even if s/he doesnt cite sources), and puts it together on their own. The current blog post can be replaced entirely with a url, and nothing would be amiss. Its outright plagiarism, with no contribution whatsoever from the poster! It’s not “compilation-of-information-already-out-there”.

Prashant, I agree with you. This is not a compilation, it does look like a verbatim copy. I do not condone plagiarism in any form. It is a serious issue.
I am not a policing authority. I can only assume that what bloggers post is their original work, or atleast a compilation.
But apparently some bloggers do copy forwarded emails or material they find on the internet without any attribution or indication that it is not their work.
I would say, this is where alert readers like you come in. If any of you find that we have linked to a post that is not an original work, please let us know through the comments section.
We at DesiPundit do take this issue seriously and would not like to be party to encouraging plagiarism, intentional or not.
For the record, I have edited the original link to reflect that this is not Pradeep’s original work.
Pradeep has also clarified that he had received this as a forwarded email. I have asked him to edit his post to include the link to the source. I am hopeful he will do so.

Thanks, Lekhni for following up on this and appreciate Prashanth for alerting us. As you mention, I too wish bloggers are more aware of plagiarism and standards for citing external sources.
