Is the value of bravery state-specific?
Nita wonders why bravery award winners from different states get vastly different cash rewards. She finds that a Param Vir Chakra, for instance, carries a cash reward of Rs. 25 lakhs in Punjab and only Rs. 22,500 in Gujarat.
Apparently all these differences because the centre has simply fixed a minimum amount to be paid to the award winners, but the actual amount can be decided by the state.
Doesn’t this seem like a very unfair system?
