Let’s Talk

There are insightful conversations. Interesting conversations. Coffee-shop conversations and friendly conversations. And then there are the sort that Ashwin finds himself in the midst of.

Gee: I’m getting these vibrations, that’s why.
Me: Vibrations? Renuka… what exactly are you doing below the table there?
Renuka: Shut up! (turns to Gee) It’s vibes not vibrations.
Gee: Yeah, yeah. Same thing. Viberations is the plural of vibes. Hahaha!

Nothing against the original poster but really- what was so desi-punditable about this post? nothing exceedingly funny, or nothing about the writing..i don’t know- is it just me or are DP-linkers just going all about the place linking left right and center in a bid to increase links? I like the idea of bringing more blogs to the attention rather than linking to regulars, but still. and i guess it’s all subjective after all…what rocks my boat need not rock yours. Phew, forgive my rant, but i actually preferred the days DP had very few links but quality ones. Don’t blame me for having higher expectations from DP, it did cater to them at one point.

I don’t think there is a conscious effort to increase links but just a recent spike in activity. We have the slow link days as well. Can’t promise to temper the firehose but yup, will ask and hope contributors to space out their links.

Regarding quality, I don’t dictate what should be or should not be linked. Hopefully, the contributors learn quickly from what readers like based on feedback. So thanks. I guess, I’ll let Ideasmith respond to that.

@ TGFI: There’s an element of truth in that observation. I certainly think it would be good to expand the base of what’s generally ‘known’ as good desi blogging.

There are some new contributors as well and we’ve each brought in a new set of blogs to follow. Obviously, views differ and our choices of what makes a good post may not be in line with what some readers and previous DPers think.

That said, we definitely want to keep a focus on what DP readers want.

Your feedback is tremendously useful. It would be really wonderful to have more details (which I see you have already posted on your own blog). A hat-tip now and then would also be much appreciated.

Thanks for the inputs! I do hope that you’ll continue visiting DesiPundi.

The day Ideasmith starts talking about good desi blogging and new set of blogs to follow?!??!!!!! LOL, now I’ve heard it all!!! Come on, it was bad enough that stalwarts like Kaps, Neha and Vulturo have vanished. It was bad enough that known trolls like Confused actually became part of DP (i mean what bigger signal can you give out that DP is biased?!!). But now you’ve got a contributor who can’t look beyond the Bombay Bloggers Party gang? And the minute she does, she links to an absolutely mediocre post that DP’s own contributor (and known troll) rants against on his blog? LOL, Guahahahahahah, and then to hear Ideasmith talking about…. *side split laffing*
