Perhaps Menon could foresee the calamity – it was he who once said – ‘It is the habit of mediocrity to complicate a simple issue. It is the mark of genius to simplify a complex one’.
Having recently read Guha’s India After Gandhi, I was impressed with Maddy’s succinct narration of events leading up to the Indo-China War of 1962 and role of then-Defence Minister and Nehru confidant, Krishna Menon [hat tip: JK].
