Laloo Lessons for Mobile Operators
In 2001 an expert declared that Railways will be bankrupt by 2015 unless privatised. It was making huge losses and was expected to make US$15.4 billion loss by 2015. Lalu turned it around in 2-3 years and now its made profit of U$2.47 billion.
Can India’s mobile operators take a lessons from Laloonomics? The 3G & 4G Wireless Blog certainly thinks so and contrasts how the Railways and mobile operators function [hat tip: Twilight Fairy]

Hi
I follow your blog religiously. I owe over 6 blog subscriptions solely to DesiPundit!
Anyway, this was not a good selection by DesiPundit. The author has not done any background research. India has the lowest tarrifs in the world and he speaks of how they are overcharging.

Phrases like “gives them right to charge whatever they wish.” reeks of price control era thoughts.
Anyways, keep up the good work! will keep reading.

Arvind, I do not necessarily agree with all the posts that I link to. If you write a fitting response to the linked post arguing why you disagree, I’ll be glad to link to that as well.

Pat,
I don’t think he as talking about Indian mobile operators. He mentions things like U.K cell phones being charged high amounts while roaming in U.S.
