There were no video games. There were no malls. There was barely a television - just an antiquated fuzzy-whitenoisy-doordarshan-blaring-piece-of-equipment whose knobs we would optimistically fiddle with in the afternoon searching for an accidental cable transmission…
… We survived by improvising – playing gully cricket with the spine a coconut leave tree and a tennis ball. By inventing and imagining all manners of spontaneous (and often illogical) activities that we manically and frantically indulged in for a week only to forget them and move on to something else the week after.
Cynic rememberes what her summer vacations as a kid used to be like, and marvels at the planned vacations of kids these days.
