The Pilot and the MP

Our elected officials are always looking out for a way to interact with public and leave lasting impressions. Indian Union Muslim League MP P.V.Abdul Wahab recently got such an opportunity when he was offloaded of a flight since he boarded it late. Mr. Wahab reminded the pilot that he was just a “glorified driver” and now the Indian Commercial Pilots Association has threatened to file a defamation suit.

Niraj thinks Mr. Wahab is not off the mark when he called the pilot a “glorified driver”

A pilot’s job is to pick up passengers, go from point A to point B, and disgorge passengers. Repeat. Aside from more skill involved, what’s the difference between a pilot and a bus driver? And I’m not being insulting, but someone who loves aviation and even tried his hand at being a pilot. I had no allusions about being a pilot then, and I don’t now. So the ICPA should just leave it alone.

Joseph disagrees and thinks Air India should give the “bravery” award to Captain Rajat Rana.

Now consider what would have happened If one of us did the same? First of all if we cannot reach airport 30 minutes before take-off, no one would escort us to the plane. If we tried to enter the cockpit, we would not only be thrown out of the plane, but also would have got plenty of third degree torture from police. I am also sure that a case would be registered against us.

Now here is the funny part. Mr. Adbul Wahab and his party is taking this incident to parliament Privileges Committee! This is what I would call mockery of the law.

A ‘glorified servant’ abusing a ‘glorified driver’. True heights of honest namecalling.
