The clearing was strewn with elephant prints, a herd had perhaps passed through the last night. And hidden between the elephant prints was the pug mark of a tigress, clear and perfect. The pug mark was so fresh that the water displaced by the paw of the tigress was still slowly seeping back into the depression. My heart was racing, I was scared and excited. Our immediate concern was to look around for cub pug marks as well, for a tigress with babies was not something we were prepared to encounter.
