Roll of the Dice for Rice?

Opposite of Maddy, my local Indian grocer warned me of pending increases to the price of rice some months back. I became aware of the increase of atta (wheat flour) prices only a few days back, actually through following Indian news from New Zealand. I am curious will digging my hands into chapati dough prove as challenging as digging into the wallet for dough to make the dough?

Being from a rice farming family (mother’s side), I still remember my brothers complaints that rice prices were too low compared to production costs, that it was becoming difficult to maintain the farmlands and his plans to shift to other crops like sugarcane and pulses. But, I thought, what would he say now seeing the price of rice?
