Sarabjit Singh = Mohammad Afzal?

The Rational Fool is shocked that Shivraj Patil equates the case of Sarabjit Singh with Mohammad Afzal.  I wonder too, how a Union Minister thinks that that a person who is allegedly a spy for India  (or an innocent farmer) should have the same treatment as someone who was convicted of an attack on India’s Parliament.

Mohammad Afzal has been convicted by the nation’s highest court for masterminding a high-crime against his own people, the people of India. An attack on its Parliament is nothing short of treason against India and subversion of its Constitution. Sarabjit Singh has been convicted by the highest court in Pakistan, but for serving in the interest of his people, the people of India, possibly under orders from his government. The motives and goals of these two Indian citizens could not be any more different.

First, it is not Shivaji Patil, but Shivraj Patil.

Second, we feel that ‘our Sarabjeet’ is innocent but ordinary Pakistanis have the same feeling for him as he was arrested for terrorist act. Just like Afzal got the terrorist tag in India.

First hang Shivaraj Patil to death before Afzal.
