Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you know that the new-new thing among Indian filmmakers and actors is blogging.
Everybody is doing it these day. Big B, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Karan Johar, RGV… And of course, the guy who started the trend, Anurag Kashyap… Joining Anurag on the Passion For Cinema platform is Revathy. Here’s her short, introductory post
Screenwriting is a lonely job and needs a specialised skill. Imagination transformed into words that can convey the emotions that needs to be conveyed. Description is fine, but to say the right words at the right time….wow that is wonderful. Everytime I watch a film and hear a dialogue that remains with me even after the film, I admire the writer who wrote it. So many that come to our mind when we think of the most repeated lines from films.

Be very careful with the temptation to call something “first”, at least on the Internet. AFAIK, Shekhar Kapoor started earlier than Anurag Kashyap. And I am sure there were others too (probably Nandita Das).

Vinay, that’s a good point. And you’re right, Shekhar Kapur did start earlier on the Chopra blog. (http://www.intentblog.com/author.php?author=Shekhar%20Kapur)
However, I still believe Anurag started the “trend” in Bollywood. Even though Shekhar was blogging, he was blogging about spirituality etc. Anurag, who was viewed as something of an enigma, started to blog about his failures, his hopes for success, and trashed the power structures of Bollywood.
By doing that he got a ton of press. And others saw the power of the medium.
Don’t know about Nandita Das… is she blogging? Would love to read it.
