Looking for the Indian Obama

I wanted to objectively evaluate India’s potential ‘Obamas’, three names have come up pretty consistently are Rahul Gandhi (INC), Sachin Pilot (INC) and Omar Abdullah (NC). The discerning observer will quickly realize that these are all heirs of a political dynasty, which although not Obama-esque, does not automatically mean that they cannot be good leaders for India. So I am going to compare these 3 guys + my candidate, Kiren Rijiju (someone you have probably never heard of, no dynasty here)

In a search to look for the Indian Obama (if there is such a thing), Vikram evaluates the four possible choices [via]. Feel free to agree/disagree or add your own choice even if he is your local corporator.

The post looks like the work of BJP M P’s propaganda machine to impress unsuspecting neutral net savvy voters. Do anyone know the opinion of Kiren Aiiju on Gujarat and Orissa riots against minorities?

Lol, Charakan, I do admire Rijiju and I guess my post might come of as propoganda. But that is a very valid question ? I dont know what his opinion, but given that he is a Buddhist, Mongoloid looking MP from Arunachal I dont think he would support any kind of rioting.

Vikram, It is my opinion that before u endorse someone better to know that person’s opinion regarding major issues. You cannot rely on someone’s looks or religion to guess their policies. The Mumbai terrorists looked casual youths and Malegaon accused were dressed as pious hindus.

Chakaran, it might also be wrong to assume someone’s views just because he is in the BJP. By that logic, everyone in the Congress Party should be Sikh-haters. Just because you are dressed as ‘pious Hindus’ doesn’t make you so.

Patrix, I beg to differ.Congress’s anti-Sikhism was transient and reactive, not ideological, but at a high cost for the Nation. The Sangh Parivar’s anti-muslim position is ideological as evident from the writings of their founders.
The only point I am raising is before endorsing some one as THE future leader of India, let us know what he stands for in major issues.

Charakan, I wouldn’t say the Sangh Parivar’s ideological position is anti-Muslim as much as it is nationalistic which often assumes hues of anti-Muslim sentiment. Raj Thackeray’s recent antics show that such ideology is not merely directed against Muslims.

Anyway, my point was that let us not assume Rijiju has similar ideological sentiments. Chances are they are not based on the reasons given by Vikram. But of course, it doesn’t hurt to ask him once and clarify matters.
