So, probably, the best way is to first communicate with the editorial staff of the newspaper/media where it was published. It is the author's right to receive a compensation. Any article with a proof of authorship can be used to sue for copyright violation. I had a similar incident where NDTV website stole my images about a month back. I promptly posted about it on my blog, put up chronology of events and started email communications with them.
