Community

This section features posts from bloggers selected by the DesiPundit team for their consistent and quality writing. These are veteran bloggers and have a combined readership of several thousand. We entrust these bloggers to select posts from their own blog to display on DesiPundit. Currently, we have nearly 50 blogs in our Community and expect to add more. This section will be updated regularly as community bloggers write and share their selected content with DesiPundit.

New & Upcoming

Contrary to the name, this section simply features posts from bloggers not in the community. This section is powered by a motley crew of bloggers that share the love and enthusiasm of blogging beyond their own blogs. They link to blog posts that catch their fancy and those that they believe deserve a wider audience and renewed discussion. Don't be surprised if the shared links come laced with their snarky and erudite comments as the contributors come with their own baggage of biased but educated opinions and that clearly reflects in their linking pattern.

Feel free to pitch in by sending us tip-offs to blog posts that you stumble on and wish to share with others; even if they are from your personal blogs. You can even share other news articles and non-blog content with our readers with the help of del.icio.us.

Featured

This section featured the best of the content presented in the above two sections. We'll also use this section to showcase our weekly features like the Friday Photos of the Week.

In case of breaking news events like the IIPM Blog Wars or the Mumbai Terror Attacks, DesiPundit aggregates opinions posted across the Indian blogosphere and presents them as a source of constantly updating source of news and views.The Featured section will serve as the primary destination for such updates.

We love taking on issues that interest us and whipping up a frenzy to generate curiosity and interest in hopes that someone higher up takes notice. India and the world in general, is a constantly boiling pot of issues that interest bloggers and we are more than eager to jump on the bandwagon.

Philosophy and Mission

DesiPundit stands for freedom of expression and wholeheartedly supports voicing personal opinion. We may not always agree with the posts we link to but believe in giving everyone a chance to speak their mind. We understand the inherent blogger need to attract eyeballs and we are more than happy to direct all traffic we get to your opinionated blog.

As a larger chimerical goal, we believe in contributing toward expanding the scope and influence of blogs in the Indian media. We intend to connect people though social networks by encouraging debate and interaction. We consider the blogosphere to be an ever-evolving medium that weeds out the undesirable and helps quality content rise to the top based on consistency, writing ability, and clarity of thought.

DesiPundit has supported social causes and contributed to the Blog Quake Day and Project Why.

What does it take to be on DesiPundit?

You have to write about India or be an Indian to feature on our blog. Personal posts are welcome too but those that have a generic appeal are favored over other trivial ones. Reasonable writing skills are expected and so is basic grasp of grammar and punctuation. We may choose to prefer variety over strict merit and that is aptly reflected in our tagline.

What does DesiPundit mean to you?

Feel free to use DesiPundit as you like; as an everyday destination to begin your mornings, a quick break at work, light reading for your lunchtime, or simply a leisurely read on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
