The Normal Guy: There is the odd "Ponmagal" remix (from Azhagiya Tamizh Magan) mentioned under ragtime, or "Un Sirpinil" (Pachaikili Muthucharam) under Bossa Nova -- but yes, a lot of the songs are from earlier eras.

Digression...I watched Ayan last night...was mightily disappointed. Many parts of the movie felt as though they were ripped out of the James Bond/Jason Bourne movies and Surya's acting seemed as insincere as it could get...he was way overacting. Tamannah also complemented him by playing a plastic doll with lots of makeup. The less said about the villain...the better!! I assume the dubbing artist for the villain (I suspect it's the bad guy from Kolangal) might have done a better job...

As for the music, this movie definitively proved it to me that Harris has absolutely no idea about scoring BGMs. It was as horrible as it could get. I wish, as with the Bourne scenes (crashing through the window chase sequence), the Ayan makers had also ripped the "edge of the seat" music from that film.

The screenplay was certainly fast paced but on the whole, there were few redeeming moments for me, in this film.

Awesome. Chords and Raaga was fantastic but it was more like Chords and Raaja, with a negligible amount of contemporary music being analysed.
How much of post-1990 stuff is discussed there in this one. Any idea ?
