BVN takes a dig on the Mumbaisation of Bombay by Shiv Sena.

Talkies editorial syndicate met at our super secret location and unanimously agreed (1-0) to take the cue. The 10 AM press release has announced drastic changes to the Blogroll.
1. Bombay Addict and Bombay Dosti will be renamed as Mumbai Addict and Mumbai Dosti. They have 24 hours to decide on alternative names. A friendly suggestion is to get hold of good Hindu names from Maneka Gandhi’s book. You cannot change it to “Bomb”, thats reserved for the big fat lady of Malayalam Aunty Cinema in case she starts a blog.

The Karnataka elections may end up in a hung assembly. This has created problems for partisan hacks in the media since they cannot decide for sure if Kannadigas are good or bad. barbarindian explains:
In the somewhat unlikely scenario of BJP coming to power (the once bitten twice shy party has vowed not to form an alliance this time), prepare for an avalanche of editorials informing you that Kannadigas can no longer be trusted. Sagarika Ghose will write blogs. A.G. Noorani will do a psychoanalysis in the historical context and prove that the concrete jungle is creating havoc in the minds of an otherwise peaceful people. Arundhati Roy will hatch conspiracy theories and offer how the mindless urbanization is displacing people and creating trouble, because after all, everything is a problem of “displacement”, including throwing Taslima Nasreen out of the country.

Cribbing about the lack of infrastructure is in vogue in Bangalore.Mukund joins the club after a visit to Reliance Digital. There is something really amiss in Bangalore.Even with a hung assembly predicted, the optimist in me still has some hope.
“Power cut sir (ed. This means there’s no electricity)” says a 16 year old Sahil, “You cant go upstairs, we have no current (sic)”. Hmm I wonder. You spent a lot of money on the store and inventory, but did not get a generator or UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply)?

Indiatime lists out ten reasons why, contrary to news reports, John McCain will not pick Bobby Jindal as his VP nominee. He makes some interesting points.
4. Obama’s African ancestry gives him over 90% of the black vote in the coming elections. Jindal’s Indian ancestry is of little use in that regard. Indians will not be flocking to the republican party to vote for the Mccain-Jindal ticket.

Amrita writes about her love for the commies. She tells us to love them for their dress, talk, power, sentiment and the bye-products.
But the women! I don’t know where they get those handloom sarees but they’re absolutely to die for. Not that I would ever wear them because all cotton sarees have an unfortunate tendency to exaggerate my bottom and if I can resist peer pressure and stay off the weed for fear of what the munchies were going to do to significant bits of my person, I think I can stay off the cotton saree.

It is opinion poll time in Karnataka and depending on your bias there are many to choose from. Prasanna looks at the Participatory Psephology at work.
The contrasting prediction made by three different polls underscore one point clearly. There is no clear winner at this point of time .Its a wide open race with ‘undecided’ voters still holding the key.It also demonstrates that runaway Congress victory predicted by spin twins is yet another instance of what Arun Jaitley so beautifully called “Participatory Psephology” . Its increasingly clear that the ideological biases of pollsters and those who fund them play a key role in influencing outcomes of polls.By his own admission Yogendra had massaged the ‘raw data’ of surveys to scale down the seat projections for a particular political party in Gujarat polls

Since a teenager I have always liked to be part of any political discussion and I had umpteen numbers of them with my friends/colleagues while in India. But none of the discussions/debates involved a girl.
Brijesh wonders why women in India aren’t willing to talk about politics. Nope, mentioning Sonia Gandhi or Amma doesn’t count; neither does “politics is dirty” excuse. I had made a similar observation much earlier in my blogging life and wasn’t convinced otherwise at the end of a commenting spree. Perhaps it is time to revisit.

Malayalam superstar Mammooty is caught on the wrong foot, again. This time it is for receiving a copy of LK Advani’s autobiography from the author himself.JK narrates Mammooty’s woes. Is he going away from the commies or he has political ambitions?
Mammotty, chairman of the Communist owned Kairali Channel, has always stayed loyal to leftist ideologies. Appearing alongside N. Ram, China’s man in India, at a DYFI meet he rightly criticized the Gujarat carnage ignoring the Communist atrocities in Nandigram.
