Religion under threat…again

“The movie is the cheapest mode of commercialization and does not speak any truth. The movie will be an attempt to malign Christians and their faith through deliberate distortion of facts. It would also hurt the religious sentiments of Christians. In India, Christianity is still in the process of being understood. Presenting Christianity in a distorted manner, is an insult.”

These couple of lines on the latest Dan Brown-inspired movie is enough to get Pranav fisking it to glory. We’ve moved from article fisking to paragraph fisking. Next up – Tweet fisking or Twisking?

Sprezzatura

He sits in the corner of the dimly lit carpeted room, knees hunched, head bent, eyebrows knit with concentration, writing in his journal. A leather bound one with dog-eared corners is worn, a constant companion through the last 14 months. The fading afternoon sun drawing shadows across his forearms forming bands across shirt and skin.

Suprabhatam, Subbulakshmi

Waking up much before sunrise without an alarm clock. Bathing and readying for the daily morning puja. A quick visit from the milkman. All preparations, all routine day in and day out for Subbulakshmi, as creatively written by Maami,

The walls of the corridor leading to the puja room were covered by framed pictures of Gods and Goddesses. The beatific countenances were brightened with colours and laced with gold trimmings, studded with pearls and gemstones done in the Thanjavur style.
